What is homeopathy?

Homeopathy is about using natural energy to stimulate the body to correct imbalances.

The skill is in selecting appropriate remedies. Successful homeopathic treatment results in an overall increase in health and well-being, mental clarity, peace of mind, and a reaffirmation of one’s personal creativity and freedom.

Homeopathy recognises the person as an integrated whole and is designed to correct the disturbances that exist on physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels. The principles behind homeopathy have been tested, verified and refined over two centuries by thousands of homeopaths and their patients, and by people worldwide.

What is nutritional medicine?

Your health is determined fundamentally by what nutrients(vitamins, minerals, proteins, carbohydrates and fats) your body is able to absorb and utilize. Many food products contain poor levels of balanced available quality nutrients. This is due to processing, storage and ultimately soil quality.

Processed food contains chemical additives designed to enhance flavour, colour and shelf life, but have no benefit to health, often having a toxic effect. Lots of other factors can increase the toxic loadin the body. Stress is an example, causing secretion of toxic stress hormones. Taking medication is another cause of toxic loading.

A consultation with a nutritional therapist involves taking a detailed case history. An assessment can be made of all possible sources of toxicity and any possible nutritional imbalances. The therapeutic approach is through diet correction, cleansing and detoxification techniques, as well as possible nutrient supplementation.

Ultimately, all symptoms are the result of nutritional imbalances and toxicity in the body. By addressing these fundamental issues, every aspect of an individual’s health can be influenced positively.

The Natural Health Centre highly recommends and trusts NutriGold for their high quality bioavailable nutrient supplements.

What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is another approach to stimulate the whole system to work properly. When the individual is healthy, energy flows through the body, allowing and enabling it to function. When ill, the energy flow may be impeded. By assessing an individual, certain points of the body may be stimulated to help restorethis flow of energy and thus regain balance. It works very well alongside osteopathic and homeopathic treatment. Each method can enhance the other.

Lara Johns

Lara has worked within the health and fitness industry since 2007; initially as a personal trainer and sports massage therapist, and later went on to complete a Masters degree in Osteopathy and Diploma in Naturopathy through the British College of Osteopathic Medicine. Lara trained as a structural osteopath and utilises the knowledge and experience gained through years of developing and tailoring exercise programmes to clients, she can prescribe specific corrective exercises and health promoting movements within treatments. Lara believes all aspects of an individual’s health should be addressed to assist the body’s natural healing process. Areas such as nutrition, lifestyle habits, exercise and stress reduction may be considered and tailored to the individual’s needs. Whilst being a hands-on practitioner, using soft tissue techniques, mobilisation and manipulation where appropriate, she also encourages patients to take an active role in returning to and maintaining their health. For example, rehabilitation exercises such as strengthening and stretching muscles can maintain or increase the effects of the treatment, speed up the recovery process and prevent reoccurrence of injuries.
